The GRPS Uncovered Project seeks to understand how the Grand Rapids Public Schools in Michigan evolved in the last 50 years. This project involves local community members, organizations, and students.
Our workshop objectives are:
- Collectively investigate the history of GRPS – particularly after the closure of South High in 1968 and GR’s efforts to integrate in the 1960s & 1970s,
- Uncover GRPS history through storytelling, as well as historical analysis and research.
- Amplify the voices of the community in historical research.
- Use our understanding of GRPS history to impact the present & future.
